"The Mini Adventure to Cornwall" by Neptune

DAY ONE.
Our 2004 Mini Adventure began with the car journey down from London. The weather forecast for the week was looking good. Our first visit was to Golitha Falls near St. Cleer. We started following the woodland path along the River Fowey as it flowed down hill. We stopped at a number of places were there were small waterfalls flowing over bolders so that I could take some photographs of twillin having a great time splashing about in the water. The water was very clear but extreemly cold so twillin could not stay in the water more than a minute or two. We never did find anything that actually looked like a BIG waterfall, I guess it depends how much rain has fallen upstream. We made our way back along the path to the car park and continued our journey to the hotel which would be our home for the next week.

DAY TWO.
We drove into Newquay town centre and parked the car. When we arrived the tide was all the way out and the beach was completely deserted so we went for a walk around the shops, me and twillin bought some new shirts to try in the sea later. We then walked to Trevelgue Head and took a couple of photographs of Newquay Bay. After lunch we drove along the coast road to Watergate Bay and parked the car. Looking down on to the beach the tide was now coming in and there were a few surfers siting on there boards out in the bay waiting for some surf. The sea was crystal clear unlike the south coast where we usually go. You can visit the Newquay website at http://www.newquay.com

DAY THREE.
We started our third day with a walk along the coast path near Cape Cornwall, the coast there is mainly roughed cliffs with good views out to sea but little or no beaches. After lunch we drove along the coast until we reached St.Ives bay. The tide was still a long way out when we arrived at the car park so we walked through the sand dunes down to the beach where our twillin decided to explore some rock pools while I took a couple of photographs of him. The tide was starting to come in fast so we moved to the main part of beach where some quite big waves were crashing in on the sand. Twillin tried going in for a paddle but the sea was just a bit to rough.

DAY FOUR.
On our last day we visited Becky Falls near Bovey Tracey. The photograph in the printed leaflet showed a waterfall with lots of water flowing over it. After driving through Dartmoor Narional Park we arrived at the car park and walked to the start of the nature trail. The trail has three routes around the waterfalls, we chose the most difficult "Bolder Scramble" as it sounded much more fun. We followed the path which was marked with coloured arrows along the river, but then I think we must have got a little lost as our route was blocked by massive boulders with water pouring over them ... There was only one thing to do so we climbed up and over the bolders and splashed through the pools of water both of us getting soaked. We eventually rejoined the main path and made our way back to the carpark leaving our own trail of wet foot prints. So ended our short visit to the South West.

We both had a great time in the South West. The weather was excellent, but four days were not enough to see as much as we had hoped to, so we will have to return to continue this adventure.
